Details

Some families only have the prints. A hand or a foot pressed gently in ink onto a card, kept somewhere safe. I make those prints into something you can hold.

Working from a photo or scan of your original print, I create a three-dimensional replica of your baby's hand or foot - true to their size, with the lines of their palm and the curve of their toes just as the ink recorded them.

It is then finished by hand in an antique bronze, a champagne silver, or left in natural white, and set into a deep black frame - glassless so you can touch the sculptures.

Your original print stays with you. I never need the card itself, only a clear image of it.

🤍 £5 from every order is donated to 4Louis, the baby loss charity behind the memory boxes so many families treasure 🤍

How it works:

  1. Place your order and choose your finish.
  2. I'll send you a short guide for photographing or scanning your print - it takes a few minutes.
  3. I digitally build the sculpture from your image, print it, and finish it by hand in my Kent studio.
  4. It arrives boxed and ready to hang or stand.

What you'll receive:

A hand-finished 3D replica of your baby's hand, foot, or both, mounted in a 25x25cm glassless black box frame. Each piece is made to order by me, one at a time. An engraved name plaque can be added if you'd like it.

Finishes

Antique bronze - a warm, aged metallic.

Champagne Silver - cooler and softer, close to pewter.

Natural white - unpainted, quiet, closest to the feel of a plaster cast.

A note on how this is made:

An ink print is a flat record of a moment: it captures the outline, the size, and whichever lines and creases happened to meet the card. It doesn't hold depth, so the depth is mine to bring. I use your print as my guide for everything it can tell me - the true size, the shape of the fingers or toes, the lines of the palm or sole - and then I interpret the rest. The roundness of a knuckle, the fullness of a heel, the way fingers naturally curl or rest: these come from my years of casting real babies' hands and feet, and from the care I take with each one. Where the ink is faint, smudged, or missing, I fill in what the print couldn't record, with a light hand. So what you receive is a sculpture made from your baby's print, not a photographic reproduction of it.

Laid side by side with the card it will look like the same hand or foot, at the same size, with the lines the print gave me. It will also look like a living hand or foot in a way a flat print never can - and that is the point. It is my artist's reading of your print, made with as much accuracy and tenderness as I can give it. If your print is faint, partial, or smudged, please still get in touch. I can nearly always work with it, and I'll tell you honestly what's possible before you commit to anything.

Timing:

Each piece takes around 6-8 weeks to make. There is no rush on my side, and there doesn't need to be on yours. If you'd like it by a particular date, just let me know and I'll tell you whether that's possible. If you have any questions at all, or would like to talk something through before ordering, you're welcome to message me. I'm happy to help.

Giving back to 4Louis 🤍

So many of the ink prints I turn into sculptures began in a 4Louis memory box, given to families in hospital when their baby has died. To say thank you, £5 from every ink print sculpture order is donated to 4Louis, to help another family receive the same care and keepsakes yours did.

Materials + Care

Each piece is sculpted from your own scan - 3D modelled and printed, then finished entirely by hand in your choice of a bronze or silver metallic finish and sealed to protect it. It's set into a deep black shadow box frame with no glass, so there's nothing to crack and the detail sits open to the light.

To keep it looking its best:

  • Display it out of direct sunlight and away from damp or steamy rooms.
  • Dust gently with a soft, dry feather duster - please avoid water, sprays, rubbing or cleaning products.
  • Handle it by the frame where you can, rather than the surface itself.

Shipping + Returns

Every piece is made to order, by hand, just for you. Please allow around 4–6 weeks from when you send your scan (and any plaque wording) for your piece to be made and dispatched - I'll keep you updated as it comes together.

When it's ready, it's wrapped in branded tissue inside a keepsake box and sent to you carefully packaged and protected. I post via Royal Mail using their 2nd Class Tracked service.

Because each piece is personalised and made to order, I'm not able to offer returns or exchanges once yours is in production. But it matters to me as much as it does to you - so if it arrives damaged, or anything isn't quite right, please get in touch within 7 days of it arriving.
